Statement
Drawing is the bedrock of my work , it is the first stage apart from selecting visually, in the creative process. It is through drawing that I internalise the spirit of my subject. It is not the absolute visual reproduction that I seek but the very essence of it. My sketchbook is always with me and if I am away travelling as soon as I return I will begin work in my studio still holding the memories of the place. Alternatively I take my easel down to the sea or onto the hills and record my subject with oils or acrylics and then develop a larger painting or print from this small study Landscape, the sea, racing skies shadows over the hills, blue distances, lanes disappearing through valleys and over hills and objects on a table of the day and what they mean to me.
Painting Holiday -May 19 -25 Spain I will be taking and tutoring a painting holiday in Southern Spain . Staying at a small friendly family run hotel with beautiful gardens and a swimming pool with the immediate environment of almond groves , mountains and white villages as our inspiration.
£750 half board + picnics + airport transfers + local transport (flights not included)

I was an original member of The Bristol Print Workshop and went on to study etching in Spain at La Fundacion de Rodriguez Acosta in Granada, spain. I studied teaching but put all my energy into painting and printmaking and have been exhibiting in the UK , USA and Europe for the last 30 years. I was sponsored by the DTI in 2000 and 2001 to have a stand at an International trade fair in New York and as a result have work reproduced in The UK and USA. I am currently painting and putting together a body of work. Next year I will will be tutoring on painting holidays in Spain and the south of France .
